History Talk - Making Life Comfortable

Event Type: Special Interest
Age Group(s): Adults, Seniors
Date: 14/01/2021
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Description:
Those who arrived in Western Australia during the second-half of 1829 to form the Swan River Colony found the promise of fertile land and plenty of opportunities for success had been exaggerated beyond belief.

With no alternatives, the pioneers began to demonstrate resourcefulness and determination in order to overcome the huge problems they faced in managing a difficult environment with a complete lack of resources and money.

In this talk Richard, will trace how, from very humble and difficult beginnings, Western Australia slowly evolved from nothing more than a camp site into a thriving State with all ‘mod cons’ laid on.
