Library: North Adelaide Community Centre & LibrarySights and Sounds of Wartime Adelaide 80 years ago, South Australians were in the midst of war. Although a world away from the battlefronts of Europe and the Pacific, life in Adelaide was dramatically altered. Air raid wardens patrolled city streets and air raid shelters were built in Victoria Square and along North Terrace. Trams and trains were filled with war workers on their way to munitions factories, while servicemen were entertained at the Cheer Up Hut down by the river Torrens. Come along to this discussion group to learn more about the City of Adelaide during wartime and to share some of your own family’s World War II stories. Date: Tuesday 30th November 2021 Location: Tynte Street Library Time: 2pm to 3pm Location: Hall Status: Closed |
