Come and celebrate the Mid Autumn Moon Festival!Library: Civic Library
The mid-Autumn Moon Festival is a harvest festival celebrated throughout Asia, notably by the Chinese and Vietnamese people for thousands of years.
The festival is the second most popular festival in Vietnamese culture, after the Lunar New Year festival.
There are many traditional activities for both adults and children during the festival including lion dances, storytelling, competitions and arts and crafts.
A notable part and tradition of celebrating the festival is the carrying of brightly lit lanterns. In Vietnamese culture, children participate in parades in the dark under the full moon with lanterns while singing folk songs.
The lanterns were designed, crafted and decorated by local artist Quoc Hung Tran (thầy Hùng).
You can view this exhibition anytime during opening hours in the Civic internal street. No bookings are necessary.
