The Death & Rebirth of the Live Music Industry in Australia

Event Type: Ideas Space - What's Art Got to Do with It?
Date: 27/09/2019
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:00 PM
Description:
The 1970s. A thriving era for Australia’s live music industry. Any night of the week you could pop into a bar and stumble across some guy called Paul Kelly or some band called Cold Chisel. All you needed was good music and a drink. Sadly, the industry fell victim to the political movements of the 90s and many iconic Australian venues were forced to shut their doors. Come join us on a historical journey through the decades of live music in Australia, its death and rebirth.

Interested in this event? Join us from 4-5pm for a free Acoustic Guitar Workshop with Tara Coates (BYO guitar) - register via the library website - and enjoy Music in the Library with Tara Coates from 5:15-6pm.

Guitarist/singer songwriter Tara Coates (formerly Carragher) combines her love of alt-country and her folk roots as a dynamic and seasoned performer, having toured and recorded in both Australia and the USA. Tara has taught guitar for the last ten years and runs her own instrumental music school TARA Guitar.
